Hi, I'm thegaminghubby and thank you for reading my blog. 🙂👍🏿

Me on the right, many moons ago. |
I’ve been gaming for over 30 years, starting with a Zx Spectrum 128k which my dad bought for my brother and I during the mid to late eighties. I have a particular love for Arcade games, since first playing Final Fight at a fairground in 1989 and shortly after, Street Fighter 2 then became my next obsession.

Despite owning a Mega Drive in my youth, my family were not the richest (I came from a single parent home), so games purchases were few and far between. I would spend hours, days and months reading and pouring over screenshots of the latest releases in CVG magazine and Mean Machines, two of the best magazines of that era.

In later life, I've been lucky enough to be able to procure many of the games I'd dream of owning as a kid and amassed a sizeable Japanese Mega Drive collection, both games and peripherals.

So why a blog about Fantasy Zone?
After scouring the the internet for even a semblance of a vibrant Fantasy Zone community, I came across...very little at all! The first game was rereleased under the Sega Ages banner on Switch a few years back and despite a luke warm response, it incorprated an online leaderboard which made things interesting and created a bit of a competitive edge among hardcore fans. It would have been fun to have had a place to discuss tactics, help newer players to the series and celebrate one of Sega's most historic, but underappreciated titles.
So this is where the Big Wings blog comes in - I don't expect it to become huge, but I would hope that it would appeal to similar, likeminded souls looking for FZ related discourse. Is this is you, then welcome and I hope you find the site useful. :)
